Today I work through the Day One instructions and view further into the video. She mentions that the "I can" is available in French and I'd like to use that from the beginning. I need to find a way to get these files in French ASAP to mount bulletin board display for first day of class. I will have to go in early to make photocopies of the student portfolios and visuals.
I would rather have it all in French to promote good use of vocabulaire. If parents want a translation the kids are old enough to explain it to their parents which is good dialogue and promotion of their language acquisition skills!
Day ONE for u will be to introduce the students to the bulletin board of I can statements and address the vocabulary in French . Students will receive their individual PASSPORTand portfolio and I will explain how this tracking process will be ongoing. Since this is only a 40 min class we will do a brief overview of Le Club Mystère and how they will now become detectives in the classroom in the hopes of engaging them in creating excitement over this project .
I am looking forward to the disc that will contain workshops and further examples of students using the units. Also I am interested in the critical literacy examples that will provide to help teachers learn how to implement this via FSL and CEFR.
I looke at this CD-Rof printable files and hoped to find the French version but I guess I will contact Doug for that.
Next step was watching the animated clips for phase 1 unit one. This will be day TWO.
I realize now there is a lot to do to prepare.
Things for me to prepare for this first class:
1) Bulletin board with I CAN statement goals- enlarge copies of Passport and language portfolios.
2) Second Bulletin Board with Sentence Cards and Strategy Cards in pocket charts so I can use them individually.( print copies on cardstock only one picture or word per side. Colour characters and put them up too.
3) photocopy language portfolio for each student and put in duotang.
4) Key phrase on the blackboard: "Bonjour, je m'apelle Mme Denis. Et toi, comment t'apelles-tu? Je m'apelle Levi. Oh, bonjour Levi!"
Well, that's all I will adress today. Have to go get ready for New Year's Eve!
Bonne et Heureuse Année à tous!
Mme Denis
